Holy Ship er uttrykket, tankene og den musikalske plattformen til Stockholm-baserte Jonatan Westh, tidligere vokalist og drivkraft i det kritikerroste bandet Blackstrap.

Det som startet som enkle innspillinger i kjelleren nattestid, ble en form for musikalsk frihet på alle måter. Ingen regler, ingen prestisje og ingen store penger til produksjonskostnader. Det er gjør-det-selv hele veien. Etter to EP-er og en tredje på vei, er fokuset fremdeles på den helbredende kraften i musikk og kreativitet. Tiden for perfeksjon er forbi, og heller la den spontane sounden flyte frem. 

Holy Ship spiller en atmosfærisk sjangermiks, med røtter i shoegaze, dreampop, indie og rytmisk psychedelia. Konserten på SÅ blir en nedstrippet versjon, hvor de vil la musikken bli guidet av natten.

Holy Ship

Holy Ship is the platform from which Stockholm based Jonatan Westh, formally singer and leading force behind the band Blackstrap, uses to develop and explore his thoughts and expressions.

What started as simple, late-night basement recordings at his home developed into a free form of musical freedom in every aspect. No rules, no prestige and no big money production costs. It was do it yourself all the way.  

After two EP´s (with a third due soon), it’s still all about the healing power of music and the power of creativity. There is no time for perfection; it is spontaneity that is key, in order that the sounds flow unrestrained and free.

Holy Ship plays an atmospheric mix of genres, with roots in shoegaze, dreampop, indie and rhythmic psychedelia. Their upcoming performance at SÅ will showcase a stripped down, streamlined version of Holy Ship, where the music will be guided by the aura of the night.
